Since 1973, through our unique and groundbreaking programs, Summit Institute has supported the rehabilitation and integration of young adults living with severe mental health issues. In 2003, Summit began providing foster care services in Jerusalem and the country's Southern Region, responsible for some 1,400 children in foster care, and overseeing and guiding 900 foster families. Our foster care services include a network of thirteen Summit-trained emergency shelter foster families, who serve as an immediate solution in times of crisis, ready to provide a safe place to land at a moment's notice, for children who need to be removed immediately from their homes. Our Mahut Therapy & Guidance Center for Parents, run in conjunction with the Jerusalem Municpality, further echos our commitment to holistic, healthy, home environments and interpersonal relationships, providing tools and mediation through difficult familial intersections. At Summit Institute we believe that no one is a victim to their circumstance, and that all circumstances have the potential for positive change. At Summit Institute, we facilitate that healing.

Foster care Services with Summit

Foster families play a vital role in children’s physical, emotional, and educational development. A foster family provides a warm home and a temporary solution for at-risk children who can no longer live with their biological parents, whether due to the parents’ choice or a court order. Our foster families go through preliminary training as well as ongoing training and support to ensure that each child has their individual needs met and the best chance at a healthy transition.
